4 Ways to Use Lemons For Oral Hygiene

Lemon juice can bring great flavor to many dishes but did you know that it can be used medicinally? Yes, that sour yellow fruit has a wide range of uses including eliminating bacteria and preventing infections. In this article, we’re going to narrow it down on how it can help your oral ailments like bleeding gums and toothaches. Here are four ways to use lemons to treat your oral problems:

Teeth Whitener

You might have known that lemon juice can remove stains from your clothes but it can also remove stains from your teeth. Lemon is a natural bleaching agent that can remove stains from teeth caused by tea, coffee, wine or smoking. The only other ingredient you need is salt!

Recipe

Ingredients:
1 Tbs. salt
2-3 Tbs. lemon juice

Preparation:
Mix salt and lemon juice until you get a paste-like mixture. Brush your teeth with the paste in gentle circular motions. Leave the paste on for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water. For best results, repeat two times per week. Be sure not to overdo it. Lemon juice has citric acid that can damage tooth enamel and cause more health problems.

Eliminates Bad Breath

You can get bad breath from eating pungent foods like garlic and onion or from having a dry mouth. Lemons have anti-microbial properties that fight against the bacteria that cause bad breath.
